Press Release, April 30:
The Norwegian Democrats are pleased to announce that Lieutenant General and former Chief of the General Staff of Lithuania, Valdas Tutkus, will be coming to Oslo to participate in and speak at the Norwegian Democrats’ remigration conference, ReMig26, on Friday, June 13.
Tutkus is one of the most prominent military and political figures in Lithuania in recent decades. He led the country’s armed forces as Chief of Defense from 2004 to 2009 and previously held several key leadership roles in the Lithuanian defense forces. He also served as Lithuania’s military representative to NATO and the European Union.
He helped build the modern Lithuanian defense forces after the country regained its independence and is considered a prominent voice on issues related to security policy and Europe’s development.
In recent years, Tutkus has also been active in politics. He ran as a candidate in the 2024 Lithuanian presidential election and has distinguished himself with clear positions on defense, economic autonomy, family policy, and national control over strategic areas of society.
On his own social media, he has simultaneously shown a willingness to challenge established power structures. Among other things, he has criticized plans for new military facilities in Lithuania, questioned the use of resources, and argued that the authorities must listen more to the local population and national interests.

– We are proud to welcome Valdas Tutkus to ReMig26. He is a sought-after speaker with a truly unique background in defense, geopolitics, and public debate. When a former chief of defense chooses to engage with important social issues, people naturally listen to him. Tutkus brings experience, gravitas, and an international perspective to the conference, says Anne Cecilie Kristensen.
ReMig26 will be held in Oslo on June 13 and will bring together Norwegian and international speakers for a debate on remigration, identity, freedom of speech, and the future of Europe.
